Headcollars can also be used for turnout, if your horse can be a little tricky to catch. Care must be taken if using a headcollar for turnout that it will release, should the horse get it caught on a fence or tree, etc.

Leather is more expensive and needs more looking after, so a leather headcollar is often kept just for shows. There are many headcollars available in man-made materials, in plain or patterned colours, so you can co-ordinate your horse’s wardrobe.

Headcollars have different fitting options – some have noseband buckles and a buckle both sides of the head for maximum adjustment. Some also have under throat clips. Basic headcollars will just have one buckle at the side of the head.

Lead Ropes are often available in matching colourways, to complete the look. They also come in different lengths and thicknesses.[/read]
